of the alternat? my 97 accord v6 started making bad pretty loud deep nosies while steping on the gas driving home it was coming from the engine for sure it go worse when steping on gas and the car was slugish the idle got even rougher but she is still running no check engines or any other lights. I also looked under the hood and of the belts looks like it may be half way off is it the timing belt ? what could be wrong ?

You'll need to do a better job of describing the noise and what is going on with the loss of power..
first, the engine is an interference engine. However, you cannot see the timing belt. the accessory drive belts for the alternator and power steering and air conditioning are visible but the timing belt is behind the covers for the front of the engine. so its probably not a timing belt. the 'deep noise' doesn't describe much. is it a knocking noise, a tapping noixe, a roaring noise, an exhaust noise, does it change with engine speed or vehicle speed? does it happen at idle, on turns,up hill or downhills? way too many variables and possibilities to guess at what's wrong. as for the car, if the car is under 150,000 miles and in the US there is still an emissions warranty on the car that will cover the emissions components. however, that only applies if the check engine light is ON. One thing that may fit your descrption is a restricted exhaust catalytic converter. that would result in a loss of power and a roaring noise. again, not enough info on the noise and the loss of power to be of much assistance. hope that helps |
