so i have a d16y7 engine non v tec is there anything that can be done to make it a vtech? im not too good with cars, thanx,

2 things. you can swap the head with a d16y8 vtech head. there would be some wiring that would need to be done. so you can wire in the vtec in your harness. youd also need to install the vtec selinoid. (however u spell it lol). or you can simply swap in a new engine with vtec.

No, there is nothing you can do to make it vtech. But, you can make it VTEC. Do what the guy above me said. For more information, here is a secret, there is a tiny website that keeps all the answers for you. You have probably never heard of it before. Go to www.google.com

However, I would ask, "Why are you wanting to convert to VTEC?" If it is for performance, then it isn't worth the hassle or the investment. If you want to go faster, do a swap. Even a B18B will give you much increased performance, plus increased modification capability. In my opinion, the best bang for the buck swap is the GSR engine, but you should read around on some local forums to see if anyone is selling anything useful for cheap.

You will also need a vtec ecu from an EX, or you can add vtec to your stock ecu if you can solder.

1 way is to just buy a vtec engine you cant make a non vtec a vtec it just cant be done so buy a d16b or if you want it faster go b18c thats outta of a sir civic eg its dohc vtec one of the fastest around
