I drive a Honda Accord lx and recently, the check engine light has be on.















It started weds night when i was driving home, the check engine light came on , while the "D4" light was blinking on and off.















Yesterday, i went to O'Reillys and got the plug to plug in my care to see what was wrong with it.but when the machine read it,it said that it was nothing wrong. then a guy that workedther came out to help me and he did something to make the light go off.































about 15 mins ago,the light came back on with the D4 light blinking on and off!































Whats wrong with it!















its a 96 by the way

first of all check your spark plugs















second check transmission oil level















3.check engine oil















4.quiekly check your gas cap if its closed tightly

The universal code readers often only read OBD-II engine codes.































The flashing D4 indicates a transmission problem. You may want to have Honda read the transmission codes.

If the car acts like its taking off in 3rd grear that cause it is it sounds like your TCU is going out in which that controls the transmission a new comp is high but try and find a used one or a rebuilt what goes bad is a resistor in the TCU this will also cause the D4 light to flash try and get it fixed cause driving it with it taking off in 3rd will burn up the tranny if thats not the case the other thing out be a shift solenoid which is also easy to replace hit me up with a reply if you have any other questions
