95 honda passport electrical problem
I bought this vehicle with a slipped timing belt. it sat for a little while, and after i finally broke down and went to change the timing belt, i noticed the battery was dead, and wouldnt take a charge. so i had the battery de-sulfated, charged back up, and worked like brand new. but after re-installing the battery, i find that my vehicle has developed a short somewhere that is blowing the 100 amp main.
If the Alternator is either disconnected at the wiring harness, the wires unplugged from the back of it, or if it is taken out of the housing, then the short dissapears. but as soon as the alternator is put back in the housing and slightly tightened with a bolt, the short is back. we tried pulling out every single fuse in the main fuse box, and there was still a short. we have also completely taken out the ECM from the inside, and still a short. i went and bought a brand new alternator hoping this might fix my problem, but i still had the short. next, i removed the starter, but there again, still had a short. im almost convinced its in the wiring somewhere, but i really dont want to dig into all those wires. i already removed all the covering on the ones coming from the fuse box to the alternator, and they werent damaged at all, so i dont understand this anymore. someone please help me.
