Im interested in installing a sunroof into my 1988 Honda Civic Dx. Is this hard to do? Could I do it by myself? If not, then how much would a shop charge? How do I go about doing this? Please help me! thanks!

Well you would have to cut a hole in the roof, find a compatible sun roof, then get it installed. It is likely not worth the effort or expense. Better to save up and buy an si or ex.

If you are a mildly experienced in body work or fabrication and handling a grinder and sanding block I would not feel overly intimidated by the project. Most comment the hardest part is simply finding the mental capacity to cut into the roof of their car, but if you have good fabricating skills, why?
If you are not experienced in the fields though most custom shops will charge $300 - $1000 from what I looked into. $300 seems kinda shoddy though. $300/$60/hr = 5 hours $60/hr being a regular ASE mechanic shop. |
