ok im not sticking up for them or anything but im saying im not some rich kid so im not getting a brand new mustang or anything ill have around 4-5k in a few months and want to get a civic because its better than some 1995 piece of crap, but if i put in an intake, headers, exhaust, stuff like that does a civic still suck?

civic got a bad rep from idiots who put in an intake, and than run their mouth, like they have the fastest civic in the world, real turners has more fast than flash and real tuners got civic that are super car killers, since the fast and furious movie there has been a lot of wannabes that gives civic a bad name































people who says civic sucks are mostly euro trash and american clunkers, who are mad that imports are the new thing and euro and muscles are on it's death bed

well when my grandammit can smoke a civic and all i have done to it is general maintanance i tend not to be a fan. and u can add all that stuff to a civic but it will still ultimately be a civic and its just not got the credibility to be what u desire in a b a car.

I agree with you both, every since tha fast and tha furious movies came out, people have been killing tha civic name. i have friends that are into imports and they have some nice looking cars. then there are idiots around here that have cars that are a P.O.S. and they try to keep em that way to put down the import name. They entered into one of our local car shows and no one wanted to even look at our cars cuz of them.

To me a Civic sucks when young people get in them and think they are in Fast and the Furious or invincible. in-town limits is not for drifting and neither is a Honda Civic with a teen budget.































In my town there's about a million of them and they are all owned by teenies (Im 21 so I'm not an older person ranting about kids). They zip in and out of lanes and fly past people, brake check you, etc. They usually have loud exhaust pipes that sound like crap and they stomp the gas as hard as they can to go one block and then slam the brakes.































This is why civics suck.































If you're a mature driver and don't piss people off then your civic will not suck

Intake, headers and exhaust will definitely give you some jump in horsepower. You can get an intake and headers and get something, but the exhaust is what's going to set it off due to the easier breathing of the three combined.































There's some nice Hondas out there that aren't all about wack body kits, fart cannons and basic bolt-ons. But that's how Fast and the Furious portrays their cars, so of course the know-nothings will think they know it all after watching that piece of crap of a movie.































Rustangs and V8s get mad because my four-banger doesn't blow smoke when I floor it.































EDIT: But on a more serious level, a lot of Civic drivers pick fights and do the stupidest things on the road because they don't know how to drive to begin with.

Bare with me and my wall of text, I want to get into a bit detail lol.































They suck because of stupid people. But only some of the Civics.































Particularly the ones that pretend to know what they're doing so they go and buy an Ebay muffler then weld it onto their STOCK exhaust pipe. Followed by a cheap intake they picked up from some random place and the cheapest headers they can find. After those 3, they tend to paint the car some stupid color or they will half way paint it and throw an unmatching body kit on it. Then comes the worst part, a 2 foot tall Spoiler on the trunk... So then they decide to drive around like a jack*** cutting people off, speeding, and trying to race everyone.































Second reason people hate them; Civic owners can pick up a 1989-'00 Civic for less then $8,000 grand and then spend another $8,000 and have one of the fastest cars around if built right. Reason people hate this, you can spend under $20k on a Civic and beat many BMW's, Lexus, Mercedes, Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, etc... and they get butt-hurt because your cheaper little car just kicked their $40,000+ cars a$$ and they don't understand why a little 4-cylinder beat their V6 or V8, so in turn they hate on the car. Of course when I mention muscle cars I'm talking about the owners who bought the car then drive like they own the road but actually aren't that fast because they don't know how to build that stock "muscle" car into a true beast, so they get butthurt when a built Civic walks all over them.































A built car beats a bought car anyday.































Overall:















Keep it clean, and make that car look as stock looking as you can. Research Honda's and see your options then make a plan and research the engine modifications you would like to have, try to set a horsepower range you would like to reach. Avoid bright colored paint jobs, spiolers, body kits, and any other unnecessary changes. If you buy models like the Lx and Dx and don't want to be hated on, don't add any modifications, those engines aren't worth building. Try to shoot for an Ex or Si, both those engines when built right are capable of reaching far over 300whp and in such a light weight car, that makes a lot of power. If you do get an Lx or Dx and want some power, you can always do an engine swap. Make sure it's a 5-speed if you really want to have fun with your Civic. Remember, "You get what you pay for"

People that say Civic's suck are older Americans that have always owned poorly built American cars all of their lives. When I started buying Civic's in 1978, they were cute cars w/great gas mileage and not much more. Now they outclass and outlast any American car on the road, like most foreign make cars do. For a young(er) person to buy one for a 1st car is great. I bought my 1st daughter a 1990 Civic in 2003, and my youngest daughter a 1997 Accord in 2007. The Civic met it's demise with a Jersey barrier in W. Va, but the Accord is still running strong at 116K.

dood i own a civic, but all that stuff you said about flying fast by people and what not is fun, and even if you gave me a buick to drive i would do all that stuff in a buick, i love speeding and driving crazy , if you gave me any car id drive crazy in it. i dont care about fast and the furious and all that bs, i just love the feeling of speed and that amazing adrenaline rush.

see idc what kinda car you drive, i like to see the driving skill, if you can zip in and out of traffic and do it good, i give ya props for having the balls to do it and for pulling it off good, but dont kill any one



big ass spoilers look like shit on a civic never get one.. body kits suck unless its a show car and you never drive it. nice rims decent exhaust headers and intake are ok, ONE COLOR PAINTJOB IS WHATS NEEDED THE MOST, if you have 2 different colors on your car you are considered a mexican where i live.

civics are slow but for some reason feel fast, ive driven a type s cl and i went 95 in it and felt like i was going 60 or less lol, but when you go about 75 in a civic that bitch shakes which makes it a fun car to **** around in.

Have fun man, its a first car, learn how to drive with it since its weak in power then get something else later, but if you truly like the car and how it looks and everything about it, f*ck what people think, its your car and if you want one get one. LIVE YOUR LIFE
