It sounds like your brake fluid level is borderline low. What happens is the level isnt low enough to turn the light on until you apply the brake pedal hard. When this happens more brake fluid leaves the resivoir and enters the brake lines which tells the computer that the level is low. eventually the light will stay on.
The main reasons that the level is low is due to a leak or worn brake pads. when you have worn pads it takes more fluid in the lines for the pads to make contact with the rotors or drums. It may not be a problem now but you should be aware that these are the reasons that the brake fluid level would be low |

First thing to do is always check the brake fluid. As said above, low brake fluid will cause these lights to come on, especially under heavy braking conditions. Second thing to do is check your brake pads for wear. Sometimes the cause can be as simple as needing new brake pads but sometimes it can be more expensive like brake lines leaking, the brake master cylinder going bad, or air in the system.
If you add more brake fluid, be sure to check the cap on your brake master cylinder for the type your model needs. |

there is something wrong with the anti lock brake system, when the computer detects a problem with abs system it turns on both lights, this does not mean your brakes are going to fail it just means that the anti lock system is not working.get it checked as soon as possible. honda tech 12yrs.
