most cars after 95 have a plug underneath the steering wheel where you plug in the scan tool to read codes and clear them, but on mine i dont have one and I was doing research and i found that on my yr vehicle its under the passanger which i found now the thing is my scan tool is too big to connect to the ecu.. anyone know how or where i can purchase a reader that plugs in perfectly?

the 1995 used a two pin connector under the right side of the dash by the kickpanel to retreive a blink code. (On some models you need to remove the kickpanel to get to the connector). the connector is typically brown in color. The 3 pin connector is for the honda proprietary scan tool. there aren't any adaptors for the GST that I'm aware of that will convert your scan tool to the honda connector.
Once you find the 2 pin connector you simply use a jumper wire between the two terminals of the service check connector. then turn the ignition switch "On"........ the check engine light will blink one or more codes. the codes 1 through nine will be short flashes of the light (approx 0.25 seconds) the codes 10 through 48 are a series of long flashes (approx 0.5 seconds) and short flashes. the long flashes are the first digit of the code; the short flashes are the second digit, so four long flashes and three short flashes is code 43. when you get the code you can post to see what it is if you can't find that information online or elsewhere. by the way, your car is an OBD-1 vehicle; the OBD-II did not come into effect until 1996 models. hope that helps |
