96 Accord...Now What?
I have a 1996 Accord LX with a 2.2L non V-Tech 4 cylinder engine. 241,000 miles. The water pump went bad a few weeks ago and I decided to take care of some other small issues and maintenance as well. New water pump, all new belts, tensioner, crank seal, cam seal, distributor O-ring, cap, wires plugs, vacuum hoses and even some new bolts.
First start...rough and fluctuating idle. Reset timing.
Second try...engine cranked and reved to a scarey 6000 rpm+
Third try...moved timing belt BTDC one tooth on cam sproket and opted to clean the throttle body and FITV. Tightened washer on FITV. Started and ran OK ecept for high idle ( 1500-1700 rpm ) when cold, died when engine warmed up ( Yes, I burped the engine ). TPS checks good.
Now, just bought a brand new FITV and throttle body gasket. IAC was replaced about 3000 miles ago. Fired it up and revs red line out of sight .
Timing? FITV? Vacuum leak? Did a visual on all hoses. Can't check anything until I get the idle speed down. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance, JS
