I am considering buying a used 2005 Honda Civic at a good price, but the dealer reports that the AC of the car does not blow cold. They will not determine or fix the problem, and they will not speculate how much it would be to fix it. Because the dealership is not close by, before I take the trip to test drive the car, I would like to know if anyone has any rough ideas about the cost of fixing the AC, from the easy case of just recharging it to the worst case of replacing the AC?

150-175 for a recharge. if the compressor exploded, which isnt uncommon in these, 1000+, and if it filled the system with metal, you could be looking at 2500+ with a new condensor, evaporator, expansion valve, and flushing all the lines. I've done one odyssey that was over 3500. whole thing was filled with powdered metal from 2 failed compressors.
