a somewhat more powerful engine compared to the regular one. A regular one is rated around 170 hp whereas the type r has 200 hp. Since it has a higher compression ratio it is harder to setup a good FI (forced induction) system. Whereas the regular engine has a lower compression which makes it a good engine for FI but gets lower results.
