Default Is there a recall on 1998 Honda Accord 2 doors v4?

I was driving down the street and out of no where my car started slowing down and i look at the dash board all my lights came on so i hurry up and pulled over and my car completely shut off. I put it back in park and try starting it again it wouldnt start. Then i waited 1 minute and it started. What can be wrong with it?

Is there a recall or anything?

Yes, there is a recall for the replacement of the ignition switch that will cause the car to stall out while driving. the ignition switch is on the back of the ignition key cylinder where you put the key in and turn to start the car. when the switch contacts burn out then the car will stall and all of the warning lights on the dash will come on as you coast to a stop. typically the car can be restarted as was your case.

the recall will be performed at no charge by any Honda dealer regardless of the age of the vehicle or the mileage on it.

hope that helps

Check the NTSB website for recalls... it will list any and all that the car has ever had. Your car also had a class action lawsuit for the transmission, I know because I have the same car. Take your car to the dealership and have them run the VIN and they can tell you if your car has one of the bad transmissions. Honda lost the case and they warrantied the trannys up to 103K on these vehicles. Don't let Honda push you around, some dealerships will deal with you nicely, but alot of them will try and BS you about this. Call American Honda and they will confirm this with you. Sometimes if the tranny goes bad after the 103 honda will split the cost with the owner, they are pretty good about working with their customers.

One last thing.... your car is not a V4, its an inline 4. Honda only has V engines with six cylinders or more. The V4 they have goes into motorcycles.
