I recently bought a used 2004 honda civic, 55, 000 miles for $10,500. I have a 1997 Honda civic, 2 door ex coupe that has a busted transmission, but is still drivable. The dealer offered only $500 for trade in, and I felt that the offer was less than I could get for it myself. So I would liek to know what you guys think is a reasonable price to ask, it has 160,000 miles, everything else works fine, just needs transmission work. I was hoping to get around $1,000 for it, is that reasonable?

Sell it to the dealer for $500. Unless you intend to part it out. Only consider parting it out if you have a place to store the eye sore. If you want to sell it in one piece for more than $500 get the transmission repaired. Then see if you can sell it for the cost of the repair plus $600. If you can you're even considering the time and effort to get it fixed, put an ad in the paper, show it to the wheel kickers, etc...... OR sell it to the dealer and be happy with the years of service and the $500 you got for it.
