Default How to replace a 97 Civic Alternator?

I consider myself to be mechanically inclined, but this thing is killing me. I can get my alternator off and out of the bracket, but can't get the thing out of the car. I've tried every possible thing I can think of. Through the bottom I run into the CV axle, through the top I run into the Master Cylinder, and I've even tried running it around my engine block and got stuck on my intake manifold. I'm about to push this car off a cliff. What can I do, short of taking one of those 3 things off, to get the alternator out of there?

You actually have to take the CV axle shaft out on one side.

Been there done that on an older model Accord.

On a 2002 CR-V you have to remove the power steering pump.

I don't know why they can;t make them more DIY friendly? It would be a plus.
