Default 1995 Nissan 240sx vs. 2000 Honda Civic EX?

I'm looking into buying a used, sporty car. Which one would you recommend? Which one is Faster? More Reliable? Both have about 120k miles...

Also, how much would y'all pay for the 240 sx in great condition, and the EX in good condition?

Faster? 240sx. The Civic is a grocery getter car.

More reliable? That depends on YOU, the owner. A car doesn't maintain itself or make itself reliable. So either will last as long as you take care of it.

But since they're both used cars, they're as reliable as the person who owned them before.

And unless you have service records back to the creation of the car, you'll never really know.

Civic Si if you can find one. But still an Ex is not a bad choice, those little Honda engines are built to last and can even withstand a turbo charger after you make some changes. Plus the VTEC in a Civic that allows it to hit 7200RPMs or higher is a plus, makes those little cars turn into NOS lovers. People who bag on them or deny them being even close to "sporty" have never driven one, none the less a top end one. The Ex, Si, and Type-R Civics have a lot of potential and I have seen some really fast Civics, usually the sleepers a.k.a. stock looking ones. People misjudge cars, and don't realize there's a lot more than horsepower that has to do with being fast. Like weight, which plays a big role in racing. Test drive them both and see which one you like better.

Just for the record, RWD or FWD shouldn't matter, if you put them against eachother with equal amount of power, FWD wins believe it or not. It's easy to assume RWD is better because of drag cars, they only use RWD because at over 1,000 horses it's hard to keep the front wheels on the ground.

p.s. Make sure you get a manual.

faster stock is definitly a 240. but reliable depends. where do you live? if you live somewhere that snows and rains alot it may be better to get a civic because the 240 is rear wheel drive and is tough to drive in the those conditions. but i owned a 240 that ALWAYS broke down on me and i took care of that thing like is was my own flesh and blood. until i hit an uncovered man hole at night. so i bought a 95 civic and i love that thing. i have not had a single problem with it. my civic right now is faster then a 240 cuz i have a built single cam turbo in it with eagle rods and a bored block and such. if it comes down to it... i would choose the civic basically because they have ALOT of parts available, easy to soup up, easy to fix, and fun to drive.
