A new engine, trans? $6000-8000, if you go through Honda.

If you mean you just want a new engine for the car, but buying used parts, then around $2000~, depending on whether you get junk yard parts of quality.

Well, if depends on which engine, transmission, etc. you want to go with. If you are going with the original specs, you can probably do it for less than $700.

However, I would recommend doing an engine swap. You have a cable-driven transmission, to change it to hydraulic would be a little extra work, but worth it in my opinion. If you don't want to do this, then get a B18a engine out of a 1990-1991 Acura. If you don't mind doing the conversion, I would recommend either a K series engine swap, or a B18C. Look at the overall power differences and see which is worth it more to you based on cost. Personally, I think the engine out of an Integra GSR is the best choice.

ok firstly ignore will t, hes an a** and doesn't know what hes talking about, i dont know why he even bothered answering.....

secondly a crx is a great project car, great old school looks, very good speed and are getting rarer and rarer. not sure what country you live in but ill answer in 's as i live in london. in terms of new parts of honda, your talking al least 4000 job jone, although you can pick up a mint crx sir for around 2500-3500. if your getting second hand parts then you can pick up a second hand B16A2/B16A1 engine (standard crx sir lump) for around 300-500 w/70000ish miles. ive seen engine, tranny, wiring loom and ECU been sold together for about 800 on or ebay. AC shouldn't cost to much depending on what needs doing. cant give more detailed answer as dont know details, but add labour costs on top of prices, which vary alot and can be as expensive as buying the parts if done at a garage.

great car to project, check out this site, may inspire you!, also guest book some owners and they may give you advice!
