Default in a Honda Prelude what motor has better quality and why a H22 or a H23 ? thanks?

i want to buy an honda prelude and i keep hearing the sales brag about these motors and i just wonder what is it that makes them to be so valueable or better than one another.

The H23 is larger displacement, and tends to take to turbochargers better.

The H22 has VTEC.

The H22 has higher horsepower, but the H23 has more torque. So if you want more acceleration power, go with the H23. If you want higher top end, go with the H22.

Neither one is decidedly better than the other, and I have no idea who you've been hearing a "sales brag" about it, but I'd stop listening to those people.

Just depends on what you want your car to have.

Also ignore anyone who flat out says one engine is faster than the other. The H22 is faster at top speeds. But for short bursts, the H23 out accelerates it, every time. And since most races are short bursts.....the H23 is a lot more attractive for that.

The H22 is a VTEC engine, whereas the H23 is not. Depending on the year the H22 has a minimum of 195hp @ 7000RPM/156lb-ft @ 5250, and the H23 has 160hp @ 5800RPM/156lb-ft @ 4500. So the Prelude with the H22 will be faster, specially at higher rpm's. Hope this helps!
