Default Honda civic si year 200 with a garret turbo kit?

I'm considering buying a Honda civic si b16 with a garret turbo kit! would the turbo do much for the car since its a high compression engine already?

With the b16 you can go safely with about 4 pounds of boost before you have to start changing out motor parts. You will definitely feel the boost, even at 4 pounds,

BUT I would not get that car. I guarantee that the person who owned that car has beat the crap out of it. You only boost a car for 1 reason, to go fast, and that is what that person did.

That engine was not built for a turbo, and a turbo would diminish the life of that motor greatly. It will not be too long before that car is going to need some major repair, which is why he is probably selling it.

Sure, it would do a lot for the car... like detonation and an eventual blown motor. So what you will have to do is use race fuel or premium (according to your tune - if he has done one... if not then dont even consider buying it if he has driven it frequently untuned) or lower the boost. The higher the compression, the more power you will get out of the turbo at equal boost pressures. ex. 9:1 at 8lbs would produce less power than 10:1 at 8 lbs. the downside is higher combustion temps and a lot more recipes for disaster.

Do you know what all this individual has done to the vehicle other than popping a turbo on? And miles of usage? Tune? These are very important things to consider.
