Default What car is better / faster? A 2004 Acura TL or a 2008 Honda civic SI?

My cousin has an 04 non type-S TL and he is always telling me that he can beat me. I have been getting intersted on da civic si.. If I get the si will I be able to beat him in a race? my cuz TL is stick shift, I know that can make a huge difference... Please also give me your personal opinion about wich one looks better and wich one you think is better. If you can, plz tell me the pros and cons out of both of them..Thank youYes da civic si is only made stick shift. And I am pretty sure that there is a 2004 TLYes da civic si is only made stick shift. Well after doing a bit of research I have found that your question is invalid because there is no such thing as 2004 model TL. Acura skipped the 2004 model. It goes directly from 2003 to 2005. Look it up on Wikipedia.Anyway, the Civic Si has engine just under 200HP and weighs about 2600lbs. The TL (I'll just assume you're talking about the 2003 model) has an engine that is 225HP (for the base model, so it may be higher, but I doubt it unless your cousin has a lot of money) but it weighs almost 3500lbs! So while the TL produces a lot more power, it also has a lot more weight to carry which would cancel out the fact that he has more power. The race would actually be pretty close. Email me and tell me what the results are; I'm actually pretty interested in finding out. And you said that the TL is stick shift? Isn't the Si stick shift as well? I thought the Civic Si was stick shift only? If it's stick shift it's a pretty close race. If not, I don't know... automatics are more for fuel efficiency, not acceleration. I'd suggest a stick shift.EDIT: emiller1998 is right. There is a 2004 model. In that case, the TL will beat the Civic Si any day. I drove a 2005 TL before and it was amazing.Btw, if you choose to race, please be responsible. Don't do it in a neighborhood or any place with a lot of cars. Do it in a long parking lot at night, if possible.PS: emiller1998, thanks for pointing out my mistake; however, I'd appreciate it if you were a bit nicer about it, in other words, not saying that I can't read.

You will lose. The TL isn't much against other cars in its class other than looking decent. But against a Civic Si he will smoke you in any race he can think of.Harman - Wikipedia isn't a very good source but it does list a 04 TL and you cant read. There is a 04 TL and it had 270 hp.

The Acura-Acuras are just better cars. Its a better quality, higher end market of vehicle.

Of course you can beat one.You only need a good Aftermarket Intake and a Race Header with just those two mods you don't have to worry about the TL.There are many SI owners that had done low 14's with those two mods. All depends how good of a driver you are.In any case right now there are enough aftermarket support to put a 2006+ Civic Si on the 12's naturally aspired. And the best part you can still can drive it on the streets every day without problems.
