Default Should I get a Cold Air Intake or Short Ram Intake for my 1999 Honda Civic?

Would a Cold Air Intake or a Short Ram Intake provide more horsepower for a 1999 Honda Civic DX? Would one provide better gas mileage than another?

its been proven im pretty sure the best way to go is a cold air intake or a k&n drop in filter. Short rams arent that great because they suck in hot air in the engine bay. The stock intake and cold airs are directed to colder air. So in short, cold air intake which give more power and mpg

Either one will provide more power but you'll probably never notice in everyday driving. You won't see a noticeable improvement in mileage either. I think you will find it a complete waste of money.

the short ram sucks the same amount of air as the cold air intake system the only difference is the temp of the air now the cold air system is further from the engine so its colder air BUT it is usually closer to the ground so if the road it wet your engine can inhale some water ........so the power to risk ratio says go short ram intake id go with apexi ive seen different brands all dyno tested and for my 89 supra the apexi came out on top and gave me a 14hp gain with the short ram also small increase in mpg but not that noticable

The Civic SI came with a factory cold air set up.Honda wants a fortune for it,but it would fit and increase performance marginally.I got one from NAPA (long tube)for around $75.00.Mileage went up 1 mpg(documented)and accelerating up an on ramp there is a difference. The down side is the sound these set ups make. They sound like an old four barrel wide open, wooooooooo! I kind of like it myself.Estimated power gain is around 6 hp (knfilters.com)

cold air is risky if you live in a damp climate, if think about a short ram and what it does...it lets your engine get more air what is more power. If you decrease your air temp you get even more power, so put vents on your fenders. i think will help you just take your time
