Default How much better mpg will I get in my 2008 Civic by removing my rear seats?

I'm not really looking for more power, but will an intake, header and exhaust improve my mpg or drain more because of the increase in power?Most of all, I want to make the car lighter to get the most mpg out of my Civic. Carbon fiber hood maybe.yeah, not necessarily wanting to buy more things, just trying to make the car more efficient. I guess it wouldn't give me much by removing the rear seats.

How much money are you looking to spend for this? New intake, headers, exhaust, and a carbon fiber hood, what are you looking at, $1000 or more? To save literally a few pennies on gas?

The investment will not pay you back. I would suggest walking more.

I took the back seats out of my PT Cruiser about a month ago. It seems a lot quicker on the take off. And the seats were heavy. I use this car as a route truck now.

The more engine mods=more fuel used. I would into the Carbon fiber hood & lighter wheels.

Your seats don't even weight 15 pounds... taking them out will gain zero net fuel savings. Installing a thousand bucks worth of gadets is a waste also -- you can still buy a LOT of gas for a grand. Buy a set of high mpg tires (the rubber compound is harder), take the back seats, door trim panels, headliner, rt side sunvisor, stereo, AC unit, spare tire and carpet/pad out and you may lose over 120 pounds. Lose ten pounds yourself and you MAY eek out another 2 - 3 mpg. Dude, is it really worth all that??

You will only improve your fuel economy by an almost immeasurable amount. A carbon fiber hood will cost about $600 and only weighs about 10 lbs less than the factory hood. It is not worth the money spent.A cold air intake and exhaust system will improve your fuel economy along with giving you more power because the car can breathe better, but again the money spent on the mods will not pay you back in fuel economy very much. Best thing you can do is keep your tires properly inflated, make sure your alignment is good, and that your air filter is clean.

You said; 'Carbon fiber hood', you're looking at efficiency; you're going to pay a few hundred for it which only will be a few kilograms lighter. Thats not a good investment. How about you ride the bike to work, lose weight and buy a Toyota 1.3. Very efficient, are you thinking logically?
