2004 head gasket problem
I hope someone here can help me solve this problem. My son has a 2004 honda civic with 80,000 miles on it. This past weekend he had the head gasket blow on him. I find this very unusual for this car with such low miles...aren't honda's suppose to run forever with little to no problems? We maintain this car like clock work.
My question is this, back when he had 62,000 miles on the car he was in an accident which was back in Oct. 2008. The front end was damaged and the bump shop repaired the cooling system along with the radiator. My mechanic agrees with me this should of never happened. He told me when he was taking the fan off he noticed it wasn't plugged in quite right, not really sure what that meant. Also, he stated that he believes this happened because there wasn't enough coolent in the radiator. Does this sound about right? That this should not have happened and this could have been the problem that cause the head gasket to blow? I own a pontiac and never have to put fluid in my car so why would you have to with a honda other then to flush your system right?
Right after the accident we had to have the belt tighten down because it squealed like crazy when you turned on the heat or defrosters in the a.m. this was something else the body shop put on. I think I need to go after them for the $$$ for this repair bill?
Any input would be very helpful!!! Jewells520
