That seems like a paradox to me. I always thought that they decreased fuel mileage. Best answer only if you can explain whyJohnny D;" Yes this will decrease gas mileage as it requires less fuel to burn but this also has drawbacks. "Contradictory statement. Requiring less fuel to burn would increase gas mileage, not decrease it.

maybe 5 HP or less - most will get less HP. AS far as gas mileage, that will go down - your adding more air with a less restrictive air filter and bigger tube - with little or no baffling inside. This in turn means the cars computer will push more fuel to make up for the access air coming through the intake.

thats easy/they give nothing/seen tests on any car that is electronic fuel inj/ the whole program is contained in the ecm and cannot easily be altered/ the cold air pipe junk only lowers the temp of the air and causes more fuel to warm up/its a big bull pappy thingy and its a reminder what junk people will b uy/years ago it was the almquist speed shop mini charger/a screen that went between the manifold and carb /buttttttttt people were swearing that piece of window screen was the cheap horsepower/did nothing but mess up some cars//wrong bolt patterns and short bolts and etc/

Do you understand the concept of Cold Air Intakes? Its fulfills the duties of the short ram but allows colder air to enter the engine. Colder air means more oxygen and this means more efficient burning. Yes this will decrease gas mileage as it requires less fuel to burn but this also has drawbacks. one being hydrolock, the lower your car is the more susceptible it is to catching water from rainfall or floods. any water in the engine can cause engine failure because we all know water cannot be compressed. the other is the horsepower increase. yes there is some 5 at most. you'll only obtain this on higher engine speeds (above 4000 RPM) because that's when its more efficient. Which is why its recommended manual transmission cars only. Oh forgot to mention, it makes a "throaty" sound when installed since stock intakes silence the engine souds. like opening a mouth wide open.

I've documented 1 mpg on my install,K&N says 6 HP over stock. The long tube kit accelerates a colder (denser)mix past the throttle body.Cold dense air equates to a more efficient burn,I.E.more Horsepower, better milage.Try the NAPA Dealer first before you buy name brand (Airraid,K&N etc)The Napa "Balkamp"catalogue has all kinds of parts not normally advertised. There is a downside,on acceleration a loud "wooooooing"sound, kinda cool actually!
