2001 accord makes noise since having timing belts replaced. Help!!!
Noises problem
2001 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 169000 miles
I have a 2001 Honda accord EX with 169,000 miles on it. It has the 4 cylinder engine. I had my mechanic change the Timing belts and fix the air conditioner (line had a hole in it and system was charged). When I got the car back it did not seem exactly right when I turned the get put it started fine so away I went. I can’t put my finger on what was wrong but maybe it had a little vibration as soon as I turned the key.
Anyway, I notice a very slight “popping” noise coming from what sounds like the drivers side of the engine after I got a few miles down the road. I turned around and went back and got my mechanic. He drove the car and at first did not notice anything. Then he heard the noise. He said it was a “misfire” from the engine. To me it sounded like a suspension part or something but he said no way, it’s a misfire. Keep in mind it is not loud at all. It may take it a several miles before it starts. It is much more noticeable when in 5th gear and the engine is “lugging” some. It also does it much of the time when I let off of the gas to hit my brake.
He kept the car for a few days and told me he fixed the problem. When I picked it up he said that I had a bad ground wire somewhere that was causing it. He did not charge me and said the problem was fixed. As soon as a left it did the exact same thing 2 miles down the road. I think he has no idea so that is why I am turning to you. He has been a good mechanic I just think he has no idea. He used his computer to diagnose the weak ground. The computer also shows that the catalytic converter is weak as well. The car does not run rough at all when this happens. The car was not doing this in anyway before he worked on it if that helps you any.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
