12V power slots? Hi. I want to wire in an accessory that uses power from the car's electrical system while the key is on accessory power (power ON when the key is on accessory, or engine running and OFF when key is taken out) How do I find an available circuit and where do I find information on how to wire it so I can have power for my accessory?I use my cigarette lighter slot for my cellphone car charger. I want it to be hard wired into my car -- there must be accessory power slots?

Your honda is a 12volt negative ground direct current electrical system. The 'alternator" on the car generates an AC current that is converted to DC by the rectifier bridge into DC to power the car and all of its equipment.you would need a wiring diagram for the car to tell you what the available circuits are for your car. Unlike the older domestics, there is not an "ACC" terminal in the fuse box.if you don't smoke or use a cell phone charger then I would suggest you use terminal 27 in the underdash fuse box for your accessory. that is the terminal for the cigarette lighter/12 volt accessory socket. that would be the safest bet depending on what you are installing.it largely depends on what the accessory is and what the current draw of that accessory is as to where you can wire it in. tapping into an existing circuit isn't a great idea as in usually overloads the circuit and causes the fuse to blow. intalling a larger fuse isn't an option as that will cause the wires to melt.most assessory installers wire any optional equipment into the ignition switch so that the accessory comes on when the key is turned to teh ON position. The ignition switch is the electrical contact switch on the back of the key cylinder that is turned by the ignition key when you go to start the car.hope that helps
