I don't want to have to buy additional audio equipment, but I'd sure like to use my iPod in the car.

I think for any type of car you need that extra plug. it goes for like, 25 bucks at Target.even if the car can play the ipod, you need something to hook it up to the car.

On the 2010 Pilots there is an optional ipod interface that alows you to hook your ipod up directly to the stereo without any aftermarket accesories. This is only availible on the touring models i belive but you may be able to request one to be installed on another model of Pilot.
