i have a 2006 honda civic ex coupe and i rebuilt it from an accident it was in. the only airbag that deployed was the drivers and i replaced it. i changed the seatbelts. i changed the sensors in the passenger seat. i changed the airbag computer BUT..the first time i changed the airbag module (computer) i accidentally used a sedan module instead of a coupe module.. the passenger seat airbag light came off but the one on the dashboard is still on. what could it be? could it be the first time when i accidentally put the wrong module in confused the car? PLEASE HELP MAX POINTS AWARDEDalso i forgot to take out the battery when the module was put in

Disconnect the battery for about 15-30 min. take off the module, disconnect the airbags & sensors, reconnect the battery. once you do that both lights should come one. leave it running for about a min or so. turn off the car, disconnect the battery, reconnect the airbags, sensors & module. wait about 15-30 min before reconnecting the battery.

the answer is that it could be any of about 15 reasons; anything from installing a defective replacement part to an open circuit.there should be a two pin connector under the dash by the steering column. it should be yellow in color. that is the SRS test terminal for diagnosis of the SRS system when you don't have the Honda scantool. simply jump the two terminals with a jumper wire (or paper clip) then turn the ignition ON and count the number of long and short blinks. each long blink = 10; each short blink = 1. add them together and you'll get the code. when you get the code then ask what it means if you need help deciphering it. the code will point you to the exact fault.as for the wrong control unit, the condtol unit is what stores the codes so when you swapped it out the codes went with the old box.you can send me a separate email if you want when you have the code. you can do that by clicking on the icon to the left of this answer and then using the email link in the upper right of the profile pagehope that helps

Hi Il Capitano:Honda guy is right, but here's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag lights and resetting the system. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing. Airbagsolutions.com has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong!http://www.airbagsolutions.com/This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights. See if your car is listed here. Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer
