That would be a great first car! That car will run for the next 10-15 years, with almost no problems at all. It will get great gas mileage, and will be worth every penny. Just take care of it...oil change every 3k miles.

Absolutely. But--pay an independent mechanic to go over the car. If there is no problem with the car, the people you are buying it from should agree to this. You can get a mechanic to come to the location of the car and run it through the computer. Car-Fax is not enough. And check Consumer Reports April 2009 annual car issue. You can find it at the library. In the back you can look up the 06 EX coupe as a used car and it will let you know if there are problems with, for example, the electrical system, in that particular model year. I don't think you are going to find anything, but you should check, just in case. The Honda Civic is a great car (and I spent the last umpty years teaching at a Japanese university). You should be able to drive it for years as long as you keep up the maintenance.Note on oil changes: The newer cars often do not have to have the oil changed every 3000 miles. The "Car Talk" radio show usually says 5000 miles. BUT: This is only if the previous owner took great care of the car. Make sure you have new oil in the crankcase when you first buy the car. And if you don't drive the car a lot (less than 8-10,000 miles per year), have the oil changed more often. You don't want it sitting in the car.

That's a great car! Things that you consider before ending the negotiation are:TiresOils/Fluids: Engine, power steering, brake, coolant.BrakesCheck for leaks A/CCarfaxI would consider using better Synthetic oil like Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and a good oil filter preferably wix, purolator, Mobil or OEM Honda filter every 6 months for a lot of stop-and-go, and short trips driving or every 5k miles-that is considered severe driving condition. You can do 7-10k miles for highway/freeway driving using almost any synthetic brand oil.3k miles oil change interval was from the 80s.Goodluck
