a higher gear? Say like im already in 5th gear doing 55 on the highway and someone comes up to me to try to race, then what would i need to do to get a fast take off, just push the accelerator down harder? Is there something else i can do? im in a civic si 5 speed.cause i just started driving manual..

downshift....duh like 3rd 4th gear and then stomp the accelerator.

lol u should already no this if your racing but to accelerate faster put it in 4th and smash the accelerater you will take off faster. then put it in 5th when you hit 80 or 90 mph

i would Double clutch to 3ed and push it to the floor

Depends on the year.Generally, you want to shift into like third (possibly second depending on the gearing, more likely third) so you get into VTEC (or if it's an older honda without VTEC, your power band). That way your in a better RPM range, and where you have power.

with a d15 at 55mph you could go down the 2nd till 70ish, then third around 95, then floor it in forth...but honestly if u dont know how to race you shouldnt be trying

you direct him to the nearest track or drag strip, and do it legally. As someone who's been hit by a jackass trying to show off on the freeway, it's not cool for anyone involved. Also, I got a looooooooooot of his money.
