a higher gear? Say like im already in 5th gear doing 55 on the highway and someone comes up to me to try to race, then what would i need to do to get a fast take off, just push the accelerator down harder? Is there something else i can do? im in a civic si 5 speed.cause i just started driving manual..

Depends on the year.Generally, you want to shift into like third (possibly second depending on the gearing, more likely third) so you get into VTEC (or if it's an older honda without VTEC, your power band). That way your in a better RPM range, and where you have power.
