just not sure if i put too much weight or not enough....

make it as tight as you can, we use air gun to tighten them at our shop

Looked in the service manual for my 02 Accord and it calls for 181 ft lbs. and do not use impact wrench. 181 ft lbs is a lot for the average person to do, its 90 lbs on a 2 ft wrench. You should be using the proper tool to hold the pulley and a proper torque wrench for the job.
