Hi there, I'm not very mecanically inclined but seeings how even my mechanic says he doesn't know whats wrong I thought I'd try here.

I have a 2002 Honda CRV and yesterday the CEL came on and when I accelerate up to 3000rpm's the engine begins to sputter as if it were going to stall. I took it to Autozone and got a free diagnostic which came back with error code p-1259 and listed the following possible issues... 'open or short circuit condition...VTEC solenoid valve fault... VTEC pressure switch fault.... blocked oil passage.' I had an oil change a few weeks ago and got the highmileage package as my car is over 100k miles. I keep up with regular maintainance and have never had any issues before. Any suggestions on where to look? My mechanic suggested I take it to a dealership but the closest honda dealer is over 2 hours away! Thanks for any help.

I just had the same problem with my Honda CRV-EX, 2002. Similarly my mechanic isn't sure what to do. He is going to try changing the solenoid valve first. Any comments/ suggestions from what you have learned since your posting would be appreciated.

Well I wish I could be more help, two days after my post the problem seemed to have fixed itself. I took it to a dealership the following weekend just to check it over, they said everything looked clear. When I mentioned that my last oil change had been with a new high mileage product that I hadn't used before, they suggested that maybe the product had loosend some gunk that was blocking the iVtech solenoid sensor and that the gunk eventually worked itself out. I hope you too run into the same dumb luck I did!
