Default Risks of getting caught with a stolen engine and tranny, in a Civic?

I'm in Southern California. I heard they now crush cars that they cach with stolen parts. Asking this because I might buy a car that has a b18c1 USDM and it has now VINs.

the car can't have 'no VINs'. check the firewall, there should be a vin stamped into it. if there is not....run away. once you have verified the car has a vin, check to make sure the dash and door jamb vins match it. if they don't, you should carefully consider the car's history (changing the dash is not really an issue, the door jamb sticker is)on most newer honda motors and transmissions there are vin plates affixed with break-away bolts. you should be able to run those numbers and verify that the original car was a legitimate source.considering the issues hondas have out there, once you have all the correct numbers for the car, the motor, and the tranny, type them all up, and have them signed off on by the state. carry that validation in your car. if a cop starts accusing you of having stolen parts, produce the validation and he should leave you be.and yeah...i wouldn't drive a modded honda in california if you paid me.

Dont buy the car if you know you could go to jail just cuz you own it, get a car with a legal swap . . . maybe you should think about not having your name be Password:JDM
