Default What high-horsepower engine can safely fit a civic, besides the traditional civic four cylinders?

I have a Honda civic 2000 coupe with a d16y8 in it.was looking to get an engine swap, maybe a B18C GSR or Type-R.but i don't want to spend the money and time installing many aftermarket parts on either of these engines to reach 300+ horses.Instead, i thought of just putting an engine with more horsepower in the car. What engines would be good for this, but still safe for my car? What are my other options?thanks

Well, you can literally put almost anything into almost anything. Get on a Bridgeport and fabricate mounting and an adapter plate, and put a supercharged 3.8 liter Buick in your car and not much remains to be done for a very fast pass.

You asked just in the right time. As of last month they started making engine mounts so you can fit a V6 engine out of an accord or a honda oddessey into a civic. However they are still making the mounts for the 96-00 civic since right now they only have them for the 92-95 civis but give them a month or more and they will be available.

Honestly, I think you need to do some homework. The B series and K series swaps are your best bet to acheive those power levels. Unless you can source the motor from an NSX or S2000. From there, you will require custom motor mounts, custom drive shafts, custom rear end to convert to rear wheel drive, a complete re wire of your car, etc. By then you are out $15k plus.GSR swap with a decent turbo setup and a good tune will get you there for less than half the cost.I recommend you joining a Honda forum and doing some research and gaining some knowledge. Dont be another statistic that just wants a fast car so it can be wrapped around a tree.If there is one thing I can teach you is that building cars is expensive. You get what you pay for. The faster you wanna get, the more money you shell out. Welcome to one of the most expensive hobbies ever!
