Default gauger cluster swap???

I have a 99 Civic Hatchback. I want to put a tachometer in it. I wanted to swap the stock gauge cluster (no tach) out for an SI or EX gauge cluster (with tach). How hard is it to hook that up? also does it matter if the gauge cluster is for a manual or automatic civic? thanks
