i have a very old toyota carolla (1989, its a fx) plenty of km but it is in perfect condition, but im wanting to upgrade and i really want an suv, i have to drive a lot each day and was looking at the honda CRV as i heard they are economical? but i wanted to know how much like roughly how much to fil and how long a tank would last? im in new zealand so we work in litres and km. thanks for your help and if you can suggestst any other effecient cars, not really up for a little one or a sedan thing, thanks!! im also on a bit of a tight budget, $8000 NZD

The CRV is efficient for an SUV but will be worse MPG than your corolla. The CRV typically gets 9.5 litres per 100 Km, where your corolla can probably get 5.3-7.0 litres per 100km. However, slightly larger SUV's get around 10.9-12 litres per 100km. You can determine how much that will cost you based on your travel distance/week.The gas tank on a CRV is 58L. So with the number I outlined above, you should be able to go about 610km on a single tank, but that is a FULL tank to EMPTY. I'd suggest filling up every 500-550km to be safe.Other fuel efficient vehicles (SUV and hatchback) would be:Hyundai TucsonMazda3 HatchbackHyundai Elantra TouringFord Focus HatchNissan RougeToyota Rav4 (4cylinder)VW Golf TDI HatchBut personally I think CR-V is on the top of the reliability and efficiency charts. So if those are important you may already have the right car in mind.

Yes it is, I own a 97 crv and it has been very good to meI had a blazer once and that thing consume more gas than a drunken sailor consume alcohol, that goes for ANY american SUVThe CRV didn't do as good as my civic but it's pretty close
