I bought my car before realizing that the previous owner was a bit of an impatient idiot. My father noticed that my back wheels have a negative camber. Sitting next to a stock model, my car is obviously lowered (yet not significantly). Upon further inspection, it appears the previous owner cut the factory springs to lower it instead of buying lowering springs. Thus, my camber issue. So, I figured before the tires wear too much, I would upgrade the whole suspension.
I would like better handling, less body roll, a sportier ride, but I am not looking to make the ride too stiff, as this is my daily commuter. I want to keep it lowered (but obviously done correctly), with a drop of around 1.5" front and back, no more. Does anyone suggest a shock/spring combo or coilover? I am looking for a mid-level upgrade, and to spend around $800 total for the parts. Advice? |

I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX Coupe V6. I was wondering what you ended up getting for suspention? My car is stock but I put 18x8.5 wheels and 45 series tires and because of how wide the wheels are they rub the fenders lip/rim when I have people in the car and hit bumps or when alone when I hit a bit bump. I am exchanging the tires for 40 series but rubbing may still occur sometimes. I can get the fender lips rolled at a auto-body shop but that will not help much it any. The tires width is 235 and they fit the wheels perfect. I could have gone to a 225/40r18 and that would have dropped it some more and made it a tad less wide but it would not fit perfect and not look as nice. I do not like to strech tires on on wheels wider than they are designed for. I know it can be done but I think it is ghetto and not safe (so did the tire manager at Discount Tire when exchaging tires and brain storming sollutions.) I wanted the 45 series tires for added cushion because it is my daily driver but to keep them I would need really stiff suspention and that defeats the purpose of the extra cusion of 45 series besides the fact that my City is full of pot holes and a larger series tire adds wheel protection and is less likely to blow out. In order to use 45 series I would need stiff suspention or some type of fender work done besides just rolling because I do not believe that would be enough. The wheels are sold for this vehical on numerous online sites as well as specialty brick and mortar stores. I did not put some whack job wheels on that just so happened to fit my lug pattern. The wheels are made by Dub the modle is Dirty Dog and size is 18x8.5 which when messured on the outside edges of the wheel is really 19x9.5 but they sell wheels messured by the inside where the tire mounts for some reason. The manager at Discount Tire said they really should not be selling this wheel for my car. But I had already bought them, they look really kick ass and there is no returns. So... I am switching my tires from 235/45r18 to 235/40r18 which is 235x669mm to 235x645mm (.94 of an inch shorter which I hope will be enough) After I get the shorter tires I would like to then get suspention that is some what more stiff but not really stiff and not lowerd. Basicly just looking for upgraded suspention that does not lower my car much if any and is not a bouncy stiff ride. Thanks for reading all this. ANY TIPS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
