Hi guys
I have a 2002 honda accord, 2.0i with cruise control. The car is 6 speed manual. There is a problem with the cuise and its getting frustrating. The swtich on the dashboard (next to fog light etc) is working, because when I press it, the green light on the switch comes on. The steering buttons also appear to work. When the dashboard switch is pressed, if I activate the cruise from the steering, the cruise light comes on instrument panel (if I am doing more than 30mph) The system appears to be fully working. For example when I press the brake pedal, the cruise control on the instruments panel goes off, which is what it should do. It will also not activate if doing less than 30mph, so all the switches are connected and working. Fuses are all ok too. Problem is the cruise itself is not working. nothing happens. if I activate the cruise and take my foot of the pedal, it just slows down. I have checked the cable from the cruise module to throttle module and its free running. The spindle on the cruise control motor module is also free and not stuck. The only odd thing is that there is no power on the cruise control motor module socket, even when the main cruise control light on the dash is on. I dont know if the ECU will only send power, once the secondary switch (on the wheel) has been pressed, but I cant test that because the car needs to do more than 30mph for that second switch to activate. ok, so that was the long and short of it. any ideas? thanks in advance. (checked all fuses, all fine) |

I had the same problem. When I tried to engage the cruise control, the cruse control light flashed and the cruise control did not work. I also noticed that this happens more often when the outside temperatures are low (below 5 deg. C). The problem was in the brake switch. The switch is positioned at the brake pedal. On Accord 2003 it can be very easily removed by anti-clockwise rotation of the switch. You can replace the switch with a new one or you can clean the contacts of the old one, since the switch can be dismantled very easily.
I hope this helps. |
