How much should it cost to have new brake lines put in my car? All four lines from back to front need to be replaced due to heavy rust. The car is in awesome shape except for the brake lines and today, one of them busted. Car is leaking brake fluid heavily. I bought this car because it was well taken care of, and my mechanic said that the lines would not need to be replaced for quite awhile. I figured I'd have time to save up to have them done. Well, I've only had the car a week. I emailed the dealership to see if they'll help me out, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. My mechanic said he could splice the lines for $120 per line, but I'm reading that splicing could be bad. On the other hand, I'm reading that this repair could cost me $1200 or more. I only paid $2600 for the car, and I'm tapped out on cash. I'm freaking out because I don't know what to do. My luck has destroyed me this year so far. It's one thing after another. I've spent almost $10,000 on trying to get a reliable used car these past two months, eating the majority of that because people can't be honest with me. At the end of my rope here and could use some help.
