Default My friend just bought an 07 Honda Civic Its got problems?

He just bought it he paid 18,000 for it with 24K miles on it.Just three days later the transmission started to slip when he tries to accelerate at any speed the car also shutters and makes a high pitched squealing sound at the same time he tries to accelerate. The car drove fine on the test drive he accelerated with it and everything we had he car out or a good 15 minutes. The Dealer is giving him a hard time about giving the car back so what can he do?. He has a warranty on the car but they are not honoring it.Yea Will T I know thats why I drive american LOL. But I have to try and help him now because he spent all of his savings on this car.its not the belts cuz the tranny slips and you can hear it it sounds way different than belts.

don't back down. Take the car and have it looked at by another mechanic, take the "write-up" back to the dealer and tell them they need to address the issues found. If they refuse, call the Better Business Bureau. Whatever you do, don't give up.

What state was it bought from? You can check the lemon law in your state, and some have waranty laws. You could also file a complaint with your state division of consumer protection. The Better Business Bureau ( www.bbb.org ) is also a good place to file a complaint, as they will sometimes advocate for you for breach of warranty. Ultimately, if you have the warranty in writing somewhere (back of the receipt, for example) and they are failing to honor a particular clause, you have grounds for civil suit through your district court.

First mistake: too short of a test drive and buying process. 15 minutes is not an accurate portrayal of a vehicle and will not tell you enough about the car's quirks. On my car (1987 Mazda RX-7), 15 minutes is just long enough to warm it up.second mistake: not having a reputable bank in the loop. Had your friend paid for the car by check, he could dispute the transaction by calling the bank. For such a high-priced item, it's well worth the inconvenience to have that ace up your sleeve, should something like this go wrong.Transmission issues like that are the result of being driven HARD, most likely being abused considering it only has 24k on it. Wear like that is not the result of normal or even spirited driving, it comes from driving the car a very long time such as 150,000 miles. However, I would more likely suspect it has been beat the **** out of and the dealer covered it up.Automatic transmission scams are the most profitable and most easily done con a dealer or garage can pull. They're easily concealed and the transmission is very easily ruined before you could even know it. This is why I swear by the virtues of a Manual Transmission. You just can't conceal when something isn't working right with a 5-speed.When I bought my RX7 in November 2007, it has an automatic transmission in it. Even though it showed no issues, I chose to take the bull by the horns and convert it to a manual transmission the next summer, so I wouldn't have to deal with the possibility of being scammed on a rebuild. Even though I bought it from an individual, I wanted to be sure that it wouldn't have a chance to foul up on me.One call to Honda should hopefully clear it up. However, be prepared for a fight. If their customer service is anything like Volkswagen's (google for new beetle complaints for the dirt on VW), you're in for an uphill battle. For such a blatant theft of your friend's money, I would be demanding that Honda revoke the dealer's franchise license. Also, get a second opinion from a GOOD. Last, go to another dealer, because you don't want that one dealer touching your car, EVER!

It sounds more lika a problem with belts. The last owner must have pushed that car very hard to make it break down. Honda engines last forever.
