Default Did I do the right thing with my 1995 Honda Civic?

I've owned it for 11 years. It has 76K on the clock. It runs like a dream. I spent a grand repairing rust on the rear wheel arches and it now looks show room.. But the car can't be worth more than 3 or 4 grand. Am I nuts?

I don't think you are. 76k on the motor is NOTHING. While the average price of a GOOD EG Civic is about $2500 give or take, a Civic in great shape with low miles like yours will probably fetch more than that if sold.

I would personally have done it myself. I guess it's love for the car that make us do it. If the car was a complete bucket and barely ran, I would have just let it die and not invested any money into it. But it seems like you are taking care of things as needed.

Kudos to you.

I think it depends on why you fixed it. If you fixed it to have a nice car, then no, your not nuts. If you fixed it to have a car to build, then no your not nuts. If you fixed it to sell and make money, You are kinda nuts. you could sell it to a 16 year old and make money.

i dont think your nuts cause that car will probably last longer then you, shit my integra just hit 225,000 yesterday hahaha but its a 92 so, hondas last ofrever, and if you wanted to make money off it sell its to a beaner, or an asain fool, they would pay good money for that car in its condition.

I have owned Hondas my whole life..........they last FOREVER! If you maintain it, you will have no problems getting at least 200k out of it. If you are planning on keeping it and driving it into the ground, the $1000 spent on cosmetic issues probably could have been better spent elsewhere. However, if it makes you happy, thats all that matters. As far as resale, check the bluebook value on Kellybluebook.com, see what it would have been worth in the condition it WAS in compared to the condition it is in now. That will be your best way to tell

well your right that car is worth about 3500-4500 dollars, since it has less than 100k miles it must be in excellent condition, if i had a extra 3 grand i would buy it.i say keep it its still going to be worth the same amount of money even if it has double the miles.use it for now, line up a good deal for laterthen once the car hits its mid 100k mark then sell it and buy another or keep it.i think its a good investment, just as long as it doesn't get stolen.

Hondas are very good cars and if you love your car then there is no problem as long as it makes you happy, I've spent alot of money (more than I can sell it for) I owned a 94 accord. So, no, you're not crazy.

OK. No, your not nuts, it's your car and if you love it and are intending on keeping it then it's fine. If yoiu are part exchanging it you would get between £750-£1250 for the car, dependant on what car you bought next and where. So in all, the only time you stand to lose is if you trade the car in anytime soon as the dealer wont give you 'extra' for the repairs you've had carried out.If it's any help, your car went up in value last month.Good luck
