I just like to know because I want to make my civic go faster than a ferrari.

fit a MASSIVE turbo and nitrous oxide. I wouldnt recommend though

500 Horse power can be gotten out if it I am sure, they can get that out of a 1.6 Ford Kent engine. At what expense, I am not sure. Horse power is not cheap (it costs 45 dollars each at last estimate).But even if you can get 500 HP out of it, you will not be able to match the speed of a Ferrari. Top speed is determined by a number of factors. The major limiter is maximum RPM of the engine. The other factor is what gears are used.Now if you can afford the machine work to get the engine sound enough to turn about twice the RPM's it can now and/or to re-gear the transmission/trans-axle, you can go as fast as a Ferrari.When you do that then there is the problem with airo lift. Unless you do some major body modifications, at about 130 mph (maybe sooner) the car will start to lift off the road. Making for an unstable driving situation.Once these problems are addressed, there is still the loose nut behind the steering wheel syndrome that needs to be fixed.So good luck, it sound like a formula for a funeral to me.

Possible to mod it to 500hp? Definitely. Is it worth it? S*** no. And it still won't be able to beat a Fezza. It's not like strapping a fistful of performance parts to what is essentially one of the dullest cars ever to be concieved in this generation will make it instantly go faster in a straight line than a Fezza. Not to mention the Fezza would eat you for breakfast on a twisty road.

with enough money it could fly to the moon and back.to get 500+hp you need a built engine and a nice turbo setup.and all the sopporting mods to use that power( tranny,wheels,etc)with 500hp and a good driver and suspension setup you could beat a ferrari in the 1/4 mile. but if your talking top speed and other racing. not even close. you would need extreme amounts of work done to teh car to get close. and when ur done the car will almost be unstreetable.
