Default My 1991 Honda Civic DX wont start...?

This happens every once in a while, i turn the key, it cranks but will not turn over. the check engine light comes on when this happens. I usually try for a while, with no luck, then come back the next day and it starts right up. If i had to guess I'd say its a fuel problem??could it be the starter if it only has done this 3 times in about 7 months?and the battery is fine, it sounds just like any other time it starts... but it just wont turn all the way over...

Could be your alternator, try replacing it.

charge it, the starter needs more electricity to turn it over.

When you say it cranks, but does not turn over, does that mean that the starter does is not able to budge the engine, or are you saying that it is turning over but not firing. If it isn't turning over at all, I would think that it's either a dead spot on the starter motor. If it's turning over, but not firing, I would suspect something either fuel or electrical. When you first turn the key to on, you can have someone outside the vehicle listen for the fuel pump to kick on. If it does, then you are probably getting fuel. I would then begin looking at the ignition system.

i know quite a bit about cars and that sounds like you got a starter problem. check your starter and your spark plugs. its not a fuel problem. check the oil and its filter but its more likely gonna be that your starter is going out.

Despite the undreds of things that can go wrong, the three main things that can cause an engine not to start are 1. Lack of spark2. Lack of compression3. Lack of fuelSince it starts sometimes but not others, i'm willing to bet anything that it's one of those three, probably lack of spark or lack of fuel. If you can see where the spark plugs are connected on your car [mine has little wires right on the front labeled 1-6, 1 for each cylinder] unplug them then push them back on. That could solve your problem, one of them may be loose. If its fuel, it could be your fuel pump. Turn the key on and have someone listen to it to see if it turns on too. The fuel pump is typically located right beside the fuel pump, which should be easy to find.I would seriously doubt that it's lack of compression, since the car runs sometimes.
