i say its close.but i like the D16Z6 better.noticeable differences between the D16Z6 (SOHC VTEC), and the D16Y8 (SOHC VTEC).Z6 has stronger rods.Y8 has thinnest D series head gasket.Y8 OBDII..different distributor Second O2 sensor, Knock sensorZ6 OBD IY8 larger runners that are slightly shorter.Chamber: smaller and more angular for better burn.Cam: Slightly longer duration. 1-2 degrees.

Wow, the D16Y8 has a better intake manifold then the older Z6 and the head has around combustion chambers vs the older square like Z6. But since the Z6 is in a lighter car in a DX with no sunroof or power doors or windows the 1997 Civic should win, btw guys a turbo D16 will be cheaper then a basic b-series swap and be faster, piston and rods and cam still be cheaper then having a B16 I/H/E, and as proven my friend ran 11.8 in a del sol 400lbs heavier then my car ruuning 11.3. Rods of the Z6 and Y8 are the same why would they be weaker.
