Default Is it worth buying car warranty?

I have 2006 Honda Civic 4dr 4 cyl. 34000 miles. the manufacturer warranty is expiring on March 18. Do u suggest going for extended warranty for like 5 years or so. I have never done this before so was wondering if it is worth going for it. For how long do u suggest the warranty and from where should I buy and how much u think it will cost me? Thank you,

usually not. You will generally spend less money on an actual repair than the cost of total premiums. General rule, if you are worried enough to buy extra warranties other than the manufacturers, you should step up to a more quality product.

Yes I would some ppl will tell you no but if something major goes out its going to cost you more out of pocket that if you had the extended warranty it a smart thing to have. Can't tell you how much it will cost you for it cause every company it different and It depends on what kind of plane you want and your deductible

If you're going to keep the car for another 3-4 yrs and can afford it do it for peace of mind. I did it for the first time on my 2008 CR-V. I would only get it through Honda, there's some dealers that specialize in selling extended warranties so check the Internet. I would go for a 5 yr 100k mile warranty. Price is negotiable, just like buying a car. It should cost between $700 - $900 (educated guess based on what I paid for 2008 CR-V). I wish I would of done it on my other car (2000 Nissan Maxima). I've put about 3k into repairs over the last 9 years. Ignition coils, O2 sensors, etc. The extended warranty at the time was around $600.00.

No. honda always makes it hard to use their warranties. theyll give you a hard time every time you have a problem with the car they do anything to avoid honoring the warranties

Absolutely not! First of all, at 34,000 your car is barely broken in! I have 175,000 miles on my 2000 Civic, and never had anything other than normal maintenance. My 1997 Civic had 86,000 miles, never a problem until someone hit me head on at 40 mph! Thank God for airbags, my injuries were bad, but I am still alive!!Secondly, Consumer Reports states to never buy an extended warranty. They are sold by parties other than the dealer, and the dealer will hassle you, or make you go through the company to handle the problem. The cost you pay for the warranty will probably cover most of the repairs.Lastly, they nobody would sell an extended warranty if it did not make money. They are taking hard evidence of previous claims, pricing that cost in, plus a profit to determine the cost of selling you a warranty. You would be better off, by taking care of all maintenance, and will find that Honda cars are one of the finest!! It would be great if you could find a Honda certified mechanic outside of the dealer which will save you on maintenance costs. A certified mechanic with all of the same classes given by Honda, will care more about you as a person, and help you take care of your car. If you are in the DFW area, Danny's Honda and Acura is fantastic! If you are in the Ft. Lauderdale area, All Japs in Lauderdale or the Honda repair in Hollywood (near the turnpike exit) are excellent.Enjoy your car, worry free, and be safe.

Default Re: Is it worth buying car warranty?

Funny all the different opinions. I work on Hondas at a dealer and I still get Honda Care on every new Honda I purchase. I have seen too many cases of a major repair breaking the bank then to risk it myself. Hondas are great cars but they are mechanical devices, and do break. Personally, I would recommend getting Honda Care and not a aftermarket warranty. As far as EndlessWave99 saying Honda Care is hard to use, I find the opposite is true. Bill is right about price, shop around between Dealers. Good Luck
