Default honda civic 2001 tranmission expert openion?

Hi I have a Honda civic 2001 four door sedan. This car is working perfectly. It has 108663 miles on it. I changed the timing belt on time. My question is about transmission. I was reading on the internet that there are too many complaints about honda civic 2001 transmission. I checked the transmission fluid its colored brown and was not smelled burned. Do I need to change it or not. i don’t think so we ever changed it even after 108663 miles. What can I do to avoid this transmission problem in my civic. I asked local honda dealer service expert they were like confuse. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Honda's run forever... you will be fine. I wouldnt change the fluid. sounds like the fluid is good. if you're really worried take it and have the fluid changed MAKE SURE THEY USE A RUBBER GASKET NOT A PAPER GASKET!!! this is important!!!!

Your owner's manual has the information regarding the transmission fluid change.Don't worry about the transmission...really.

All cars need maintenance. Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean it's less involving maintenance wise then other cars. In fact because yours is a 2001 I would be more on top of regular maintenance. 2001 was the most problematic years for the Civic. http://www.hondaproblems.com/Civic/Even if you don't "smell" the fluid it shouldn't be brown. Good fluid should be red or pink and Honda's use a special fluid for the tranns. These sites will give you more insight about Civic trannys.http://www.alldata.com/techtips/2003...tmlHonda's are good cars but still need proper maintenance just like any other car. Just hope no damage was caused because if there was; putting in new fluid will bring out the tranny problems even quicker then leaving the old fluid in it.
