Hello everyone, longtime reader, first time poster....

Anyway, my wife has a 99 Accord 3.0. The left brake and spoiler light will flash when the doors are closed. It doesn't take much of a slam to make it happen. They will flash or sometimes stay on for several seconds.

Any suggestions would be awesome.

After posting, I got to thinking and I may have fixed it. I am far from being any kind of technician, but here is what I found.

With the car running, I would jiggle the brake pedal ever so slightly side to side. I was hearing the shifter unlock with virtually no down travel on the peddle.

Inspecting the brake switch, it seemed to be overly sensitive to the natural play in the peddle. I adjusted to switch into the peddle a half turn and it seems to be better.

I don't know why only the left light and spoiler light was coming on. Looking at a wiring diagram, I interpret those two lights being on the same leg of the circuit. Perhaps the brake switch was partially grounding out at that portion of the circuit. I can't really tell how many things the switch is doing from the diagram because I'm not too familiar with them.

That was me just pissing into the wind. It seems fixed, but it's 15 degrees warmer then it was this morning.

Could a tech throw some information in?
