I had a versa, extreme low mileage. I was not pleased with its low gas mileage 22-23 avg. Far less than 33 in advertised. Should i spend like 10 k more to trade in with a new honda insight?

Well first you should check your driving habit. If you drive aggressively like me your actual mileage per gallon will be much less than the advertised mileage. If your not driving aggressively and your still not getting the advertised gas mileage then you should get the car checked by a certified shop. The last thing you want to do in this economy is buy a car and then have to get nailed with payments for the next couple years. If you HAVE to get another car, consider getting a used car. A car that is even 1 or 2 years old with low mileage can be much much less than its new version

I wouldn't. How long do you think it would take for you to use up $10 k in fuel with your current versa? At least wait until there are some real-world fuel consumption results for the insight (from owners or testers, check automotive blogs). Hybrids don't always deliver the fuel consumption numbers the manufacturers promised either.

I would tend to keep the Versa until the second generation Insight has some time in the real world. The new Insight may be a fantastic hybrid. But it's a new package that could benefit from two years of life being driven on streets and freeways.Spending the kind of money they are asking for a brand new model isn't a bright move. Keep your current car and do what you can to improve your driving habits. A change of tires, nitrogen gas instead of compressed air, regular oil and filter changes. All of these will help and be a whole lot cheaper than a brand new car that may or may not get 40 miles per gallon.

I would not hesitate buying this car first year. It's NOT all new.The majority of the new Insight comes from existing model technology - the drive-train is from the Civic Hybrid and most of the chassis is from the Fit. Can't see allot of room for many teething issues other than interior trim and alike.
