Default What to do about poor key-less remote range?

I have a 2000 Honda Civic and the range for the remote unlock seems to be rather poor. I put in fresh batteries in both remotes, and the range was barely improved. Sometimes I have to be right next to the car for it to unlock. What should my next step be, new remote? Something with the receiver?

I had the same problem with my Jeep. Found the problem to be that the batteries weren't making a good connection. Try taking the batteries out and take a pencil eraser to the contacts, in the remote, that the batteries rest against. Just a light rubbing will do. The contacts build up a little oxide at times. Also wipe the batteries with a dry cloth and don't touch them with your fingers while putting them back in.

You can try pointing the remote toward your chin. When you are far away, it extends the signal off of your body and can add like 20-30 feet to the range. TRY IT.

Clean out the battery contacts and see if that helps. Otherwise, I think it's time for you to get a new remote.
