Hi all,
Its my first posting here and i desperately need your guidance as i dont know what to do . I have a CR-V, 98 model, 2000 litre engine and has Automatic gearbox. A few weeks ago, my odometer stopped working, while the speedometer works fine! I went to the Honda dealer and basically I've been told that they havent see this kind of problem and cannot do anything apart from trying to replace the entire dashboard with a another (probably used) one. Besides, they cannot guarantee that it will fix the problem. Has anyone in this forum got any idea on what the problem might be and if I could do something myself before changing the dashboard? I can manage to do some DYI if you can send me some instructions Your help is really appreciated Thanks! ![]() |

don't replaced the dash, that is crazy talk! I have seen it enough times here and it is more likely that the speedometer head or circuit board in the cluster is bad. First try pushing the odometer reset button firmly a few times, also the maintenance reminder(if it is mechanical ie, there is the little window that turns green to red) Then mechanical ones can hold up the odometer, push your key in the slot below the cluster to reset it. If this does not work you can have the whole instrument cluster replaced with a used one.

Hi again,
I pushed the reset button a couple of times but no luck. The dashboard has mechanical odometer counters, not electronic. "...Then mechanical ones can hold up the odometer, push your key in the slot below the cluster to reset it.." <-- I could not find that. I removed the entire dashboard and got to the back of the cluster where the printed circuitboard is located but the there is no slot below the cluster. There's like a long metal pin that is connected to the bottom of the cluster and on the top of the metal pin is the plastic pointer that shows the speed of the vehicle. How can I remove that to get to the odometer mechanical base mounted at the bottom of the cluster? There's no way of accessing it from outside (e.g. from the printed circuit) Do I need to do anything else, or have I misunderstood the point? Many thanks again for your help! |

Did you ever figure this out?
I have a 99 CRV with the same symptoms. Speedometer works, trip and odometer stopped working. The meters are mechanical not electronic. Any help? |
