Default 1990 honda civic dx toast

had problems starting sometimes, had to use a couple squirts of starting fluid and would normally start right up and afterwards had no prob running but sometimes had to wait for about fifteen minutes for it to start (did this wether it was hot or cold) and now it cranks over but wont get spark, checked ECU and it is not coming on, checked power off of relay harness and wire on bottom right (it's either the wht wire or ylw/blk) displays an OL, is it possible the relay is bad? or do i have to replace wire?

Does your fuel pump kick on when you are trying to start it, or when you turn the key to accessories?

If not, look into replacing your main relay.

I really dont know if the fuel pump is kicking on or not i could never hear it even when the car was runnning right. that was the first thing i tried to look into when it had trouble starting before but coulnt tell, is there another way other than listening for it?

On my '90 Hatch, under the rear bench seat is a cover that exposes the float in the tank. I lifted the rear seat up, removed the cover, and had my buddy turn the key. You should be able to hear it.

If not, you could always put a pressure gauge on the fuel line to see if it is priming. Or disconnect the line from the tank to the fuel filter and see if fuel is coming out.

Those are a few different options, assuming it is fuel delivery that is keeping your car from running.
